We currently sell milk from a local dairy farm called Bradfields. It is a family run farm and members of the family live right here in Purleigh. Why are we stocking Bradfields milk and yoghurt over longer life supermarket brands? Let's let their product reviews speak for themselves.....
"Fresh gold top milk. As milk used to be."
"The most delicious, old fashioned flavour milk, cream and cheese I've ever tasted."
"How milk should be ...not messed about with.. If you want a better milk good luck in your quest. This is a small family run farm with the best animal welfare."
"I love the taste of the milk, it's proper milk with a cream top. It's not much different in price from the stuff you buy in a supermarket but so much nicer & I get the satisfaction of knowing the money is going back to the farm! Today I bought one of the flavoured yogurts & it is far & away the best yogurt I've ever had! If you haven't tried them, you don't know what you're missing!"
Supermarkets use a process called homogenisation to create a longer shelf life and consistency in mass produced milk - this alters the molecular structure of the milk which some researches argue is bad for us humans. Bradfields' milk is not homogenised. It is of course pasteurised which ensures it is safe to drink. Because it hasn't undergone homogenisation, it has a slightly shorter shelf life of 7 days - but as it's delivered fresh to Purleigh Community Shop in small quantities three times per week it will always be fresh. If you have a small household we are also selling smaller 500ml bottles of the milk as well. Make sure you try the yoghurt - available in natural and fruit varieties and their lovely thick flavoured milkshakes.
